Just Another Sad Thought

I'm not supposed to understand
The meaning of pain.
I'm supposed to be happy
I'm supposed to consider myself lucky.
But sometimes that's hard
When you stand in a crowd of five hundred
And are alone in every sense.
When you shout in a room
And people act like it's a whisper.
When you have good news
And you can only tell family.
When you feel misunderstood
So you explain to your pillow.
How is it that in a world this size,
I can feel as if no one wants to hear my voice?
