Ode to a Closet Robber
You changed my life with two words,
Uttered quickly to another friend
In a quiet ballet class
You told him all he needed
To taunt me in class and the
Crowded hallways: there was no escape
“You’re just a stupid d***!” he shouted at me
While I was climbing the steep stairs,
Tears spurring out of my eyes
I never will understand your reasoning
For pushing me out of my closet
But I sure am glad you did it
If you hadn’t done it,
Who knows if I’d be where I am now
So for that, I thank you
