Ancestor
I shook the sand from my boots, bag and clothes
Just before climbing aboard the rickety ship
The thought of opportunity on my mind along with
Fear in my heart, the good kind though
The fact that I was all alone made for a lot of learning
Being mentored and cared for by the captain on the
way to Ellis Island kept me in it
The day he passed on the trek over crushed my soul
But gave me the motivation to live on in his legacy
