Empty Chair

Forever holding your presence,
your plush green chair
remains empty, still in its place
to remind me you’re not here.
No one will sit in it—
because no one can take your place.
I swear sometimes I can still see
you sitting in that chair.
Your face pale, drawn in;
the cancer eating you alive.

Oh my goodness, I like it! It's sorta mysterious and depressing.

Poem Analysis:

The chair is like a memory, a tie to the past; something that is over and done with, and now gone. It's like an anchor; the narrator is not willing to let go, because to let go would be to let go of the chair, which is the supposedly the only thing she has left of her friend, who died from cancer.

I really like it. Good job, keep it up!
