My Brother

My Brother used to take the remote
He’d change the channel
And then would gloat.

My Brother used to mimic what I would say
And ignoring him
Wouldn’t end his ways.

My Brother used to go into my room
Wreaking havoc
Running around like a monsoon.

My Brother used to call me names
Hurting my feelings
Were always his aims.

My Brother used to steal my stuff
Hiding it in places
And thinking that he was so tough.

My Brother used to eat my food
Leaving the empty containers
And me giving attitude.

* * * * *

My Brother now sits in a hospital bed
Holding my hand
And nothing is said.

All the things that caused me so much distress
Have faded away
And matter so much less.

All he wears is a simple smile
And it leaves a print on my heart
That will last awhile.

This is beautiful! I too have a brother who does those same things...I don't know what I don't know what I would do if something ever happened to him
