The Northwoods
Smoke sits on the surface of the water,
And loons lurk throughout the lakes.
A mother mallard leads her ducklings to the dock;
They find the old man with the bread.
Otters frustrate fisherman as they cast,
As an eagle swoops down for breakfast.
A wolfs nose knows where to find food;
He sets out for his morning hunt.
The cool, crisp air relaxes the body as I inhale,
But also invigorates and wakes up the mind.
My group goes out to fish,
Observing nature’s activity around us.
