Shivers of pain
Trapped like animals
Creaking and groaning like the bellowing of some dying beast
Beaten, bruised, and bloody
For it was death that crowded in with them
Death that was nestled in the darkness
Boom Boom Boomstick
Terror swelled in his chest
and filled his throat
He prayed
Trying to think of being free again


The author's comments:
The Glory Field was the book that we read in 8th grade about slavery, we were to write a poem about what we read, this was what I came up with.
