Innocently Judged
A girl stands off in a distant corner
of a loud homeroom,
her classmates go on,
enjoying life,
As if everything is normal.
Nothing could possibly go wrong with anything.
Yet she’s alone, left to stare out a window.
Labeled “depressed.”
Another girl that’s popular is off talking to
her friends loudly,
in the middle of a hallway.
All that’s on her mind is the homecoming dance,
Thinking about how “fly” she’s going to look.
Using a lot of slang,
getting dirty looks
from the rest of the girls,
that don’t like her.
She’s now been labeled “ghetto.”
A girl that enjoys smiling,
skipping down the streets,
on her way to school saying
“Good Morning”
to everyone
that passes her way,
loving the feeling of joy,
making other people happy,
is now known as “Little Miss Sunshine.”
Or
“Little Miss Preppy.”
Only wanting to see the positive things,
life has to offer.
Why is it that every little thing someone does,
they become labeled?
Almost,
permantly?
But that’s not always the case.
You only know my name,
NOT my story.
