My Dad the Hero
My daddy was a hero
Once of those brave men,
Who began each day with putting on a badge for a pin
My daddy was a hero
In that gave his life protecting me and you
The risk he took every morn he knew
My daddy was a hero
The kind that never dies
Though in the ground deep down he lies
My daddy is a hero
To this very day
But what I wouldn’t give just to hear him say
Your daddy is a hero
And he loves you very much
Joining me after church for lunch
My daddy was a hero
Taking all the long shifts
And now high his soul lifts
My daddy was a hero
And with a bullet he was hit
