Will I be my Grandmother?
Emotions easily read
If into the eyes you look
To see either the fiery blanch of anger
Or serenity often mistook
An easy sly smile
A quick wink of the eyes
Instantly attracts
The friends in disguise
I am not like her
A mind so clear
And quick to grasp
Though when not in her reach
Give up is her last
Though when she can’t fulfill
What she desperately needs
Nothing will hold her back
From wishing in her dreams
I am not like her
For many a time
Her heart became whole
Filled with roses of plunder
Cascading into her soul
Whether it is to save one’s life
Or help a friend so dear
No diamonds are upon her cheek
No quick betrayal of fear
I am not like her
A mind quick to give out
Words spoken in many tongues
No words are ever boring
No event ever unsung
I am not like her
But will I be?
