Broken Heart

Looking behind at all these years
The pain, the hurt and the tears
Everything that held me and the fear
And the things that stayed unclear
From the times that I felt misplaced
To the life that I didn’t dare embrace
All of it was too slow for my pace
I wanted to finish first in life’s race
Win before everyone else pave a way
And fly when I could only dream away
So I built my soul on a rock doomed to decay
Fully knowing that I was going astray
I wrote my thoughts to past the time
But the words I wrote never rhymed
My mind was an obstacle, a mountain to climb
But I left all the challenges behind
I fell, yes I tore myself apart
I even tore the build of my own heart
I bled as I tried to play my part
But I was weak and unable to restart
I watched them throw me into the flame
All that was left of me was a broken frame
And the wind swept away my remain
My agony, they all made me insane
Without purpose, the life I knew wasn’t sane
Then my soul flew into the dark night
It left behind all the hurt and the fright
But it left behind my stolen parts
So here I lay with a broken heart…
