I have grown to
see that you are
a good man.
Although you hide behind bitter retorts and
insults of all of the sorts,
your cynical ways
are just used as a shield
to keep you
from feeling love.
And out of all of
the people in this world,
my heart is set on you.
Easily annoyed and you’ve been
played with and toyed with
by me, and with looking
back to it
I can’t help but to
shake my head.
I have shed my ways
since those days.
I have analyzed
your timed-clock mind
and I want to eliminate
those limits,
because someone like you
who needs lengths to pull through
shouldn’t be cornered
with minutes.
Oh, how I miss those
widened eyes
of such a questionable hue,
and if I could embrace your
drunken demise
my arms would be wrapped
around the truth.
I can sense the care
and the want to be where
I am
and even though
it is fading due to
molten, unmoving miles-
I will try to keep you
captured
until I am no longer
pacing these linoleum tiles.
One day, not now
somewhere, somehow
I will scare away your nightmares
and we will laugh until dusk
until our mouths are dust,
and my slumber sand will graze your hands
until I turn to rust.
