Jealousy is such a growing epidemic
Before children can swim, they seem to wade in it
They want this toy and that ring
But life is not about the material things

The mission is to enjoy life as it comes
Take it by the horns and just run
You are already blessed with so much
A good dinner, healthy breakfast, and a great lunch

Kids in Africa would do anything for YOUR life
For them, just a meal a day would suffice
We throw away food because it’s a little burnt
We are blessed with what kids in Africa weren’t

So before you go green with envy
Donate to the famine, show courtesy
Stop looking at what others buy
Remember, most Somalian kids don’t see age five

I have always felt sorry for those in Africa who are suffering from the famine. I hope to one day be able to contribute to charities that ease the severity of such disaster. However, for now, my contribution will have to be in the form of poetry.
