Avalon
Air flew through the open windows,
Blowing her hair in all different directions.
She could smell the salty, bay air
Filling her with serenity and peace.
Sunglasses covered blue-green eyes,
A hot pink headband around her dark brown hair,
Music blasted through the car,
The beat pumping through the stereo,
Summer was here.
A paint-splattered bikini top peeked out
From underneath a blue pinny.
“Avalon”
She was home.
Coming up on 7558 Dune,
A huge grin spread across her face
Standing outside the front steps,
Breathing in the ocean air
Feeling happiness she couldn’t define.
Avalon was her home,
Her place that no one could ruin.
Riding down to 76th, headed toward the bay
A small, wooden wall lay there,
Waiting timelessly for her to share her secrets
To speak to the world and let her thoughts
Blow through the wind,
And fade gently down into the ripples of the bay.
