Demure
You look shy,
Or like you don't care.
Either you're scared,
Or your thoughts are dry.
You have no opinion.
You are insecure.
Either you are unsure,
Or you have none to pitch in.
But the truth is,
You are demure.
You want to say you disapprove,
But you really aren't sure.
Not about your opinion,
But about what people will say.
Will they say your voice is not welcome?
Will they tell you to go away?
But the truth is,
Your mind is original.
Your thoughts could build a city,
Save a life, paint a mural.
Show the world something it's never seen, something individual.
Replace a smile with a grin
You could make a new friend.
But you are only demure,
You want to speak, but you won't.
You want to speak, but you don't.
