Foghorns
narragansett bay at dawn i recall-
 it’s summertime in rhode island 2009;
 another sleepover and we’re sprawled on your living room couches and
 wake up to the foghorns blaring into the
 bleak gray morning air and then
 falling back to sleep amidst piles of blankets and pillows and your cats;
 and finally waking up to bowls of cereal and
 watching the game show channel as we talk and laugh-
 this is what i think of today,
 this dark and foggy november morning 2011, woken up in my own bed
 so far away from you now and so alone;
 i heard the foghorns resonating at narragansett bay to greet the day.

 and i remembered you.
