I want to think again of dangerous and noble things. I want to be light and frolicsome. I want to be improbable and beautiful and afraid of nothing as though I had wings.-Mary Oliver

The music starts and I feel myself let go.
Let go into my waiting world of wonder where I’m
Beautiful in the Spirit of the dance,
Helped by the Lord of the dance,
Moved by the beat.
Where there is exhilaration in each step,
Joy, in whirling, winding, soaring, flying!
Where my heart pounds and I gasp for breath, but still it all seems natural.
Where gravity can’t tell me “no”,
Where circumstances disappear,
Losing their way amidst the flying in my feet.
Where I feel alive…
Where nothing can keep me out,
Where you can’t shut me down,
Where pain no longer matters.
Here in my breathtaking galaxy of movement and music,
I forget about all but the Heart of the dance.

I think all dancers know the feelings I'm talking about. It's why we do it.
