The way we’d walk outside in the dark
And talk about everything
With no holding back.
The way your fingers would
Accidentally
Brush my skin
As we’d lay in the grass
And form animals in the
Velvety blanket of stars.
The way the lazy and warm summer breeze
Would envelop me in your scent
And I would stay in your warm embrace
And listen to the thump of your heartbeat,
Telling me we were very much alive.
I miss hearing the quiet
Knock knock knock
And peeking out of my window
And seeing your face,
Smiling, inviting.
I miss the feeling
The night I finally gathered my courage
And gave you the creased and wrinkled note
That said I love you.
I miss the euphoric dizziness
That numbed my brain
When you looked in my eyes
And said you loved me too.
I miss the comfort
Of simply having you beside me,
Telling me everything was all right
And finding laughter in the darkest moments.
But the way I put all of my trust and love
Into the palm of your hand
Wasn’t enough to keep you from
Leaving.
Choosing her.
Now as I walk the crowded halls
To sit in cold desks
And learn formulas and history
I have to see our history flash before my eyes
As you pass, hand in hand with her.
Smiling.
Happy.
Shredding my already broken heart.
I miss you.
