Adrenaline rushing
Heart pumping
Blasting wind against my face
"I think I can; no, I know I can."
This moment will be my greatest.
I step forward, they clap
They stampede forward with tremendous force,
I open my arms waiting for the glory, the fame, the riches.
Closing my eyes in anticipation I feel their cool skin brush against my fingertips.
I don't look just yet, waiting for the right moment.
Finally, I take a peak and am astonished.
I hear the crowd behind me and turn to see them crowded around a hometown hero,
I stand there
