bite/kiss
i lay on the grass
a mosquito lands beside me
it climbs up my leg
and begins to bite
i jump
and go to swat it away
but i stop myself
i’ve never felt a mosquito bite before
so i let my new friend bite away
basking in the pain
experiencing something entirely new
and foreign
he flies away, and i’m disappointed
as i realize
there was nothing there
it was just a bite
~
i rest in the park
the boy i long for beside me
his hand on my leg
he lets me kiss him
i’m nervous
and hesitate for a bit
but i finally do it
i’ve never had a real kiss before
he should push me away
but he lets me
and i feel overwhelmed when our lips
finally touch
he leaves that night, i’m disappointed
he did me a favor
there was nothing there
it was only a kiss
