I went to a woman who predicts the future, and for a small fee,
She said, “I’ll look into my crystal ball and tell you what I see!”
She took one long look and smiled ear to ear.
She said, “What wonderful things are to come your way, my dear!”
Jubilant and pleased, I asked what those things are,
She said, “Well for starters, you will flourish through the rest of high school and college, and maybe get a car!”
I lightheartedly laughed and said, “Ok, so I’ll push my self and try my best in school.”
“That’s not even it.” She said, “You are going to have a great career!” I gleefully yelled, “Cool!”
Next she said, “oh and you will marry a lovely man! Smart and charming too!
But I’m not saying who he is, because that’s a big secret for you!
And if my eyes aren’t fooling me, hear what else I see!
An exquisite house with a view! And children! I think three!”
I was so glad I have such a great future in store!
But I wanted to know additional things. I shouted, “Tell me more!”
The future predicting lady was about to take another look, when her magic ball broke!
The ball sizzled, and sparked, until it took its last croak.
I was poignant for a second, then in high sprits again, and thanked the lady because what it may seem,
Is that, if I work my hardest, I’ll be living my American Dream.
