Invidia
I used to think
But now I know
To always look
But never go
Watching, waiting
With a sigh
To feed the flames
And wonder why
We shoot the ships
And scour the seas
Caught in whirlwind
Fantasies
The clamor of
A firefight
Our darkest wonders
Taking flight
Yet lies a doubt
Within my head
A wariness
Enlaced with dread
Of something cold
And deep within
Humanity -
Be it a sin?
Yet some do scoff
With glassy eyes
And cultivate
Their careful lies ...
Their demons wait -
A laugh, a wink -
"You signed the seal
In blood-red ink."
