Lusts
Paint the moon into a sun ray
And the color purple to grey
Just to pretend
That tomorrow is today
Skin the animals bare
For a coat to wear
Through the winter
Without any hair
Squeeze tendrils of flame
From a lion’s mane
To prove your own locks
Are just the same
Touch the down of a goose
Watch the feathers come loose
She’d trade them all
For the antlers of a moose
Scrape off the paint from a house
Ignore the screams of the spouse
So you can stuff paint chips
Into the hole of a mouse
Bite off your nails
And wish for a tail
So you can float in the ocean
Without a boat or a sail
Trade in all your loose change
To buy a whole range
Of items to pretend
You’re not so deranged
