Scenic World
Scenic world, you know that taste?
You know that taste? The taste of pretzels after you’ve sucked all the salt from it
And there’s nothing left.
Like you.
You know that taste? The savor of rocks that floods your mouth just before those untimely tears slither their way down.
Have some willpower.
You know that taste? The raw, of when you gnaw into the side of your cheek so much that it gives way.
Forget those memories.
You know that taste? The split second freeze that lingers on your tongue when you inhale sharply.
Calm down.
You know that taste?
Because I do, I have to.
Isn’t it hard to remember joy?
Isn’t it effortless to remember pain?
I know that taste.
It’s the spice of grief.
