Potency of Darkness
Who are you, you mysterious creature whose presence terrorizes?
What grave monster summoned you from the abyss of hell?
Destructive you are; conniving you are, the impetus of depression!
As you enter, what ensues, but trepidity and peril?
You’re quick and cunning as a fox, arriving before I blink,
And suffocating as a boa, encompassing all around me.
You lurk in corners, burying crimes, concealing fool are you!
Deception is your only virtue; your scheming methods are cowardly.
Although your hue is unanimous, cryptic is your purpose.
Why are you the chief adversary of all humankind?
For you attain no physical power, yet this formidable force
Poses the most ruinous hazard of all, one to the mind.
