There were three of us standing on the stones,
We laughed at those playing in the sand, somehow knowing we were safer where we were.
Two of us had ventured out there before,
And both had come back, scarred, with a lesson learned.

Three of us were standing safe on the stones,
But one was not content to stay here.
He wished for something dangerous was all we could guess,
When he left us to join the ones dancing below.

Two were left standing on the stones.
We warned him of the danger, but he paid no heed
When she held out her hand, he blindly followed,
And joined the devil in her snare of sand

Two were left standing on the stones,
When the ones in the pit began to descend.
They ignored their peril and laughed at the us standing by
“Look at the fun we’re having here!” they declared.

Two of us were left watching from the stones,
When the ones in the sands fell too deep.
“We don’t need your help, it’s all your fault” they screamed
When their world began to crumble and collapse around them.

Two were left watching from the stones,
But sympathy we still had for the fool who left us there.
We threw him a vine to save his life,
But it was all for naught.

Two were left watching from the stones,
When the vine was cast and caught.
He tried to save his temptress as well,
But it snapped, not able to hold them both.

Two were left standing on the stones,
When he refused to see what she had brought him to.
He stayed by her side through the hell she had caused,
And still could not bring himself to admit she was to blame.

Two were left watching from the stones,
When the ones in the pit met their fate
We tried to warn them, but they refused to listen
Now there is nothing left of ones who fell.
