Eons ago
The man rose up and drank in the morning
Liquid air, the sharp clamor of bird song
Shadowy dancers jump across the broken plaster walls
Chipping paint and pictures peeling
A ritual morning
A lazy, lethargic, ritual morning
The same empty forgotten mornings
That eons ago
Sang of the melted warm sunlight on yellow cotton sheets
And fleshy arms, embraces, smiles, kisses, laughter,
The same dancing, drinking, singing mornings.
