Favorite Quote:
Religion is just like a river. There are those who will fight the current, those who will just go with the flow. And then there are the few who choose to work with the flow and current of the water to get to the bank and safety
Grace Robbins

I look at my reflection
I see a girl with extra body
Plain face,
Plain me,
nothing special
Just me
I pray to see myself as my family does
I look again and instead of plain
I see a beautiful girl with a heart of gold
Her eyes shine, her smile bright
I realize it's not how others see me
It's how I see myself that matters
I pray to see myself as God does
Once again I look into the mirror
And see a child of God
She is worthy of love and respect
One last time I look into the mirror
Btu this time
I see
ME

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece in a dark time for me and I needed a friend. the only one who was there for me was God and myself, so I turned to God. I wrote this after my boyfriend broke up with me saying that he couldn't go out with someone who looked like me. I felt betrayed and hurt so I wrote this and felt better. I hope you enjoy it!
