As darkness sweeps across the city like a bird in flight,
As the lights of every home in town succumb to the fight,
And as the streets are abandoned with no-one in sight,
And as a child closes his eyes to the blankness of white,
This is the sweet taste of darkness; this is night.

The author's comments:
I love the night, and as some people have made it to look unknown and menacing, in reality it is quite peaceful and uninterrupted, so i just wanted to portray that in a poem.
