Goodbye
I have dreamed of this day for a year.
I think as I put the three horses in one by one
Listing to each hoof hit the wood flooring
They give me quizzing looks. Wondering were to this time.
The first thing I see when we get there are the wildflowers.
And I know we really did pick the right spot to spread his ashes.
He has brought every one of us together .
And know we get to say goodbye together.
I tack up my horse and climb onto his back,
Feeling every muscle come to life under me as I gather my reins.
They give the box of ashes to me to ride with
Knowing that this day is really for me,
To help say goodbye.
As we ride with me and Dad in front,
I can feel every ones happiness
And hope nobody picks up on my sorrow.
When all the ashes are spread
Everyone goes and to eat and catch up with everyone else.
As I put on a fake smile
And run all my memories of him like a movie in my mind.
