In One Breath

You can never grow tired of loneliness
Once you've realized that no one's coming,
That your cries of help, all ignored
Silenced by the whistling wind
Hours seem like seconds,
Life doesn't seem to pass so slowly.

It gets easier once you acquaintance yourself
With the vast plains of solitude
Never allowing the fear of being left, forgotten
To engulf you, is such a tempting notion
For those who once had
Everything to lose.

Coping with it becomes a routine
And although their figure may still be etched
In the empty space on your bed
Laughing and the resonating integrity are long lost
Floating instead amidst other more favourable souls
Who have yet to shake loneliness' hand.

Venturing into the broad stretch of forlorn
Is dangerous, for pity is not what we seek
In this endeavour that has carried us
Across an ocean of emotions, and dropped us
In the territory which we now reside
If only we could make them see that, although alone,
We're all alone together.
