In certain trying circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity furnishes a relief denied even to prayer.
-Mark Twain

Sun asserts himself,
disciplines his cosmic subjects.
Harsh rays of light beat down upon them.
On Earth temperature rises.
Life feels his fiery wrath.
The waters fight,
but vanquished, they ascend to the heavens.
A drowsy state settles in the atmosphere.

All appears bright and vibrant in the sunshine,
but the waters are missed.
Death creeps amongst the plants,
wrinkled and brown,
spindly fingers entangled with destruction.
“Nightfall will bring cool deliverance!”
No, Dark-heat continues,
Sun rules from afar, imprisoned Moon watches helplessly.

Moon surrenders to the dark knight-clouds.
Hope is lost… but wait,
distant sounds of rumbling? Hope usurps fear.
Thunder’s mighty quake shatters the charged air, liberates the Moon.
Relief
Light tears through the heat, a pathway for water’s return.
Rain heals and revives.
The Sun retreats. His reign is ended… but his time will come again.
