Myself, I here: the seed...
the sun I pay no heed.
A flower, cite: be not I,
and never shall I grow.

The author's comments:
I entitled this 'The Pebble' because it can be read from two points of view: A pebble, and a seed. From the POV of a pebble, it realizes that it cannot grow to be a flower, and can continue growing spiritually for understanding this. But, from the seed's POV, it is in doubt, and refuses to grow, so it might as well be a pebble.
