Death Penalty
Scared for her life she holds tight to her doll.
From a distance she can hear terror in her mother’s call.
The only thing left to do is run and hide, but
Her eyes are still swollen from how much she’s cried.
Is this what God considers a fair life
because to her it’s the darkest night.
She feels cold hands grab her to lead.
They are too rough and her feet begin to bleed.
Executioner says, “Don’t take it easy!”
Anxiety sets in to make her feel queasy.
Thrown onto a rough steel chair,
strapped down, doesn’t anybody care?
Faint clicks of multiple guns cocking,
BOOM!
