A stone mouth
says nothing.
It just sits glumly
and stares
You may attempt
to pry apart its jaws
But you will only
succeed in picking chips of rock
from its lips.
Moss grows on the stone mouth.
It has sat long
unspeaking.
Its lips are weathered and worn,
torn
but not revealing words.
The stone mouth has been watching
for a long time.
Now it knows what to say.
The jaws separate.
The lips move.
The stone mouth is speaking.

There's a sense of foreboding here. Whenever I write about stone this connotation of pure age attatches itself. The stone mouth is ancient. I have NO IDEA what it's saying.
