Rushed
The sun radiates through the frosted windows,
it’s time to wake up.
My bag bulges with sweaty shin guards,
dirty cleats,
and grubby socks.
An unpleasant aroma seeps from my bag
and quickly, I zip the stench away.
With my water bottle under the faucet,
the flow of the chilled liquid hits the ice cubes.
Gazing through the window, my mind scatters and drifts away.
The frigid water hits my hands, bringing me back.
I run rapidly to the car and leap in.
Pressing the petal, pushing the speed limit,
I frantically watch for lurking policemen.
Pulling onto the endless gravel road,
I park and sprint to make it to my awaiting team.
