Queen of the House
Queen of the House
Lounging in the living room,
the fat cat scowls at innocent bystanders.
She perches on the blue recliner;
it becomes her throne.
Since she has no name,
there are no rules.
This house is her litter box
and we, the people, are her servants.
She battles off enemies with
a quick swipe
across their arm or face.
No regrets.
But she is not alone
in thinking this way.
Many of us are like her.
Selfish, demanding,
and impatient
We complain when service isn’t fast enough.
We grumble when we’re not first,
We are blind to the cat within us.
