Unkown Soliders
Three young men huddled in the dusty dirt,
while the lethal sound of war
pierced their tired ears.
The lieutenant ordered men to sit still,
while he constructed a clever plan of attack.
The major to his left, terrified,
kissed his golden cross
and prayed he would live past this hell.
The major to his right, uneasy,
trembled as he held
the red and mustard yellow flag
symbolizing freedom.
Grasping guns,
they crept into enemy lines,
ready to attack and ready to kill.
Flames and dark deadly smoke erupted.
Swallowing the men, they drowned
in an endless sea of blood
and the nightmare ceased.
