Who I Am

I’m not much of a talker;
I’m really not much of a person to out my feelings at all;
I’ve found that once you put yourself out there
It’s easier to get hurt.

But then you’ll read my lyrics, and you’ll learn something
Something more than you’ll ever hear from my lips;
Because if you want to know me, you have to know my music
And hear the soundtrack of my life.

And you’ll see that I’m more than the quiet girl
Who shows no opinion
The girl who lets everything just pass her by;
You’ll see that I love music more than anything else;
You’ll see that I know how you feel, even if it seems
Like I don’t feel at all.
You’ll see that one day, I want to change the world
Through a song that means more
More than sex, or drugs
Because there are way more important things to address.

It’s a diary.
A timeless, forever-locked diary that presents a key
Only to those
Who are willing to hear it, who care enough to
Dig deeper than the surface.
The piano keys are my paper,
And once you hear the music,
Once you try and listen to the music,
You’ll finally hear me.
