Christmas Eve

October 20, 2011

Candlelight
Red and green decorated
The sounds of siblings and cousins and relatives
Bouncing echoes off the wall
They rub their eyes
And yawn
Cookies are out
For a man that never came
Now I wait for bells I may never hear
As I walk up the staircase
And see my sister and my cousins
And I hope
That visions of sugarplums danced in their heads
Because they cease to dance for me any longer

I wrote this because for a while I had lost my holiday spirit. I felt like there wasn't a lot to it anymore but I realized it's a lot more than presents, cookies and Santa. It's about hope, joy, peace, love and being close as a family.
