Ruinous Remains
Geared up, gun in hand.
He sits in a cold black chair.
The wood floor
below him looks as a strong storm
has just blown through.
There’s remains
of children’s toys,
blankets,
and small household tools.
The thought of the family who
once occupied this house
dismays him.
Fearlessly glancing up from the tragedy-stricken floor,
Preparing himself,
he knows the war must go on.
