Nereid
The roaring waves swallowed me
Dragging me under into the black sea
Drowning me, stealing air from my lungs
And just as I was about to shut my eyes
Just as I saw Death approaching me
She came
She was not human, nor was she a mermaid
Her eyes were bright like sunken treasures
Her movements were as fluid as the water itself
And she was more beautiful than the sea’s pearls
When her lips touched mine, I could’ve swore I was dreaming
She breathed air into my lungs and dragged me to shore
Then, she left, never again to be seen
