The Jump
The murky water stares back at me,
as I prepare to jump.
My back, hot and sticky,
waits to be revived.
How many creatures lurk
under that quiet, top layer of dirty water.
I take four steps back,
still peering into the foggy water,
trying to see the bottom.
I run,
and jump in.
Cool water
surrounds me.
I step out and the sun ignites
my wet skin,
making my body shimmer.
I get ready to jump,
again.
