Who has helped promote and shape the West?
Who do we now consider a pest?
It's quite clear we don't give them credit
Most people would rather forget it!
Gentle equines are nothing to fight
For if you ask me, they are just right!
Clever, and brave are these mighty steeds
there are so many, many different breeds!
Cobs, and Friesians just to name a few
So many colors and patterns too!
Some are great jumpers, while others just race
Though both of these need a very good pace!
Great workers they were back in those days
They worked long and hard to earn our praise.
So now you should fully understand
Hard work it took to form this great land
For all it took was a horse and a plow
To form the west as we know it now.

This one won first place. I don't want it published again, but thought people might be curious about what poems that I wrote that won contests.
