The Girl That Waits

I stand waiting on a path
I’ve traveled many years before
Familiar sights enclose me
that I’ve long since known anymore

A map birth-marked on my forehead
so I’d never be late
But as the winkles came it morphed
So now I’m The Girl That Waits

If I met him here, halfway
I was told I would be saved
from the horrors, demons, and nightmares
I unleashed when my soul caved

His kind breath that felt so close
my ears now dissolve into hate
My eyes conceal truth, as well, now
and he made me become This Girl
That Waits

As his fingers unhinged
from their tight clench on my heart
it made my mind blossom
but tore my vocal chords apart

If he chose me again
I’d openly welcome my fate
So with my dreams to keep me from sinking
I’ll be That Girl Who Waits

How wonderful! I love the way it flows and the images it brings to mind!
