The Tear

Deep within the core, near to the soul
The walls of a heart, innocent & shy
With one small tear, blacker than coal
Beneath the depth of the sky
Its dreams now lie

Rejection, distrust, lies & loss
One spear point, that’s all it took
The path of hatred, it now dares to cross
An acid word, a pierced look
From that one special person, nestled in its nook

Overcome with hormones, love & lust
Shining light, it used to wear
All emotions buried in clouds of dust
Now sunken down in the pit of despair
These things all seen through one small tear
This is the tear of my heart

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this poem by a heart break. The guy that I really liked in seventh grade found out that I liked him, and he didn't like me back. Our situation wasn't necessarily this dramatic, but I like to take feelings and twist them into different emotions/stories.
