I sit on her lap
and pretend I’m a
child once more

Her worn brown soil skin
feels soft
and comforting

The leaves and branches
shiver as she hums
to me lullabies

A round wet tear
plops on my
flushed cheek

We are then silent together




content together




alive together

She is my only mother
I could stay with her forever
My hand on the ground
