GrateFul
Grateful I am
I was raised in a home that had
Rules, from cleaning up to helping
Where you had to behave and do chores
Where sharing is caring,
I was raised in a city where
Crimes are an everyday thing.
Where you see crackheads walking
Up and down streets,
Around schools, around playgrounds
They barely have energy in their feet
I am GRATEFUL,
To overcome all the above
Where I’m from if someone bother you
Stand on your own two feet and
Defend yourself
I am from play the game, don’t get played
I was taught that education
Is the key to SUCCESS !
I am grateful to know
right from wrong, to take
responsibility for my actions
and to ALWAYS SAY NO TO DRUGS !
I am grateful to be a STRONG
INDEPENDENT African American Young Lady,
To have a mother to say
“clean” up or “wash clothes”
I am grateful to have a bed to
Go to every night
I am grateful to be able to go to bed
With a full stomach
We should all be grateful
To be able to wake up to a
Roof over our head
I am grateful to say
Thank You God For Watching
Protecting Me From This ColdHearted World,
Kilaua Ingram
