Interrupted Night
It’s getting dark, darker
It’s a long walk, walking
Stumbling up, up-upwards
There is no rush- none
But we run, run. Run.
How long can we make this last,
Wanting it all fast but,
But there isn’t a rush
A rush, rush, rush, of a different kind
It’s getting dark, darker- don’t mind
Feet on sidewalk, dust, dirt, car lights
Almost there now, almost, almost night
Interrupted by light, tonight, interrupted
Interrupted by lights coming fast, faster
Black space ahead, glimmering, silver, slow
Then light, swift, rapid, clean, light
Flashing, flashed
It’s getting dark, darker
Now
