"You don't need anybody to tell you who you are, or what you are, you are what you are!" John Lennon

A heart can see rainbows for the colorblind eye
Perfect eyes can see all grey in a beautiful world
Bits of color shine through, but who will reply?

Walking sleepers stroll with eyes to the ground
I admit, I am guilty of being oblivious too
To the bits of color that manage to live
My weary eyes might catch a glimpse
Of what life could really be like if only
We would all pay attention
To those bits of color emerging

Instead of all that grey so suffocating
And it drowns us, but we let it
Because it’s safe and comfortable
To just blend in and never notice
The bits of color I see
Struggling to survive in this so called life

I wrote this poem when I finally stopped to look at the changing colors of the trees in the fall. Life happens so fast that grey is the dominant color unless everyone takes one single second to stop and really look at what surrounds us.
